Catch that Yankee Doodle Spirit! No one in theatrical history ever did so many things so well as George M. Cohan--"the man who owned Broadway." A dynamic entertainer, playwrite, producer, director, Cohan practically invented American musical comedy. The Cohan hits-- "Give My Regards to Broadway", "Mary", and "Grand Old Flag"--are timeless bits of Americana. EUPFAC's big 'family' show of the summer season features all of these songs and more, all interwoven into a clever story by Shubert Fendrich about an off-off Broadway, struggling theater company's attempts to raise money to put on a Cohan revival. An anonymous "Angel" puts up the money, but it gets complicated when a couple of comic mobsters show up with their hands out. Believe it or not, the show goes on, as evidenced by the final patriotic number of this show within a show.
Give My Regards to Broadway is great fun for the whole family, opening August 12th for four performances in DeTour, and continuing the following week-end for two performances, August 21st and 22nd, at the Soo Theater.
Tickets will go on sale to the public August 2 for the DeTour Village performances. Call 906-297-ARTS to reserve your tickets over the phone with a credit card or you can buy tickets at Timberdoodle Mercantile. Watch www.sootheatre.org for info on ticket sales for the Soo Theatre performances.
