Art
Smart |
There is a new nationally recognized program that brings art
history into the classrooms. The program will introduce some
well-known artists to the children in an interactive format. For example,
when learning about Michelangelo, who is famous for painting the ceiling of
the Sistine Chapel, the students may be asked to try to draw a picture on
paper taped to the underside of their desks. |
|
The curriculum planning and teaching of this program is being
done by two former teachers and FAC members, Betty Walker and Sue Smith.
They are targeting DeTour and Drummond elementary schools in the fall and
spring of the 2003 school year. This programs is helpful in rural areas
(like ours) where children don’t have the opportunity to go on field trips
to art museums. |
Community Services |
We support many other programs in our
community. Art Programs, Music, Marching Band, Student Writing
Contest, Band Instrument Refurbishment etc... Help us to continue these
efforts, join our group. |
|
We
have donated thousands of dollars in total to a wide array of programs
including, the DeTour Recreation Committee, DeTour School Band, LesCheneaux
High School Band, Drummond Island Digest Student Writing Contest to name a
few. |
